Arsenal have completed the move for an imposing centre-back ahead of the January transfer window.
Via the club’s official website, Stefan O’Connor has been loaned to League Two side, York City, on a temporary basis. He is to play there until New Year in view of extending the loan till the end of the season.
The 18-year-old was a mainstay for Arsenal’s U21 side last season and also made a cameo in the first team, making a substitute appearance in the UEFA Champions league game against Galatasaray.
He joined the Arsenal Hale End academy from Crystal Palace at 13 but just signed a professional contract on October last year. Having established himself in the Arsenal’s Under-21 side, he has been sent on loan to enable him play more competitive football.
Playing as a winger in his early years, his pace in defence combined with his aerial prowess makes him stand out as one of the promising youngsters at the club. This has handed him the privilege of training with the senior team on several occasions.
Here’s wishing the young lad a successful stay there and hoping he does not toll the line of Serge Gnabry who has been relegated out of the West Brom’s first team by Tony Pulis.
