Nacho Monreal is set to earn another contract extension according to reports. The 29-year-old current contract expires at the end of the season.
The Spaniard who currently is preferred ahead of Kieran Gibbs at the left back role is set to be rewarded for his solid performances with an improved contract.
Rumors had it that he was set to depart the club last summer. However, the player debunked such rumors stating that he is happy at Arsenal.
He reiterated his commitment with the club with his latest statement.
“I have always said that my idea is to stay here,” he told talkSPORT. “We are talking [with the club], we need to talk and reach an agreement. I wish that to happen. Of course I’d like to stay here”
The Fa cup defending champion is about rising his wages from £50,000-a-week to £65,000 .
The former Malaga star was highly criticism by fans during the early stages of his Arsenal career. However, he has shown his quality at both left back and centre back positions.
