Following the arrival of Danny Welbeck and Alexis Sanchez to Arsenal, the likes of Yaya Sanago and Joel Campbell have fallen down the pecking order in the striking department.
The duo- Sanogo and Campbell were sent on loan to Crystal Palace and Villarreal respectively in search of more regular playing time.
Players have certain motivating factors which aids them to move to new clubs and Joel Campbell has revealed that it was Santi Cazorla who advised him to join the spanish club.
Santi Cazorla spent over 9 years with Villarreal before moving to Malaga and he sure knows his stuff. Hence, he suggested his teammate try his luck with them.
Campbell is quite happy where he is and has expressed his gratitude to Cazorla for the tip.
He said: “Santi Cazorla is a great player and he told me how I’d find the club. He said that at Villarreal it’s just one big happy family. “I’m very happy to be here and playing in La Liga. It’s a great chance for me to do well in the second half of the season.
“Playing in Spain is certainly special. I was lucky enough to play with Real Betis and now I’ve got the opportunity again with Villarreal.
“I’m ready to work hard and I hope things turn out well. My head is at Villarreal and I’m determined to prove my worth here.”
Campbell had previously had loan stints with Lorient, Real Betis, and Olympiacos since his arrival at Arsenal; with his stay at Olympiacos being the most successful of all, where he scored eight goals in 32 appearances including a goal against Manchester United in the Champons League.
