The Gunners sublime defensive record this season may have coincided with the arrival of Petr Cech but there is no doubt that he is the major factor behind it.
Arsenal conceded 18 goals in the first half of the 2015/2016 League campaign – an average of 0.9 goals per game. It could have been better, no thanks to the likes of Southampton and Chelsea.
The Czech international has revealed that he screams at his back four in four different languages – German, French, Spanish and possibly in Czech.
Conversing with the Daily Mirror, he had this to say.
“I speak to the full-backs (Hector Bellerin and Nacho Monreal) in Spanish, to (Laurent) Koscielny in French and to Per (Mertesacker) in English because for him it is the same as me.
“He organises people in English. Sometimes foreign players wouldn’t know what you say.
“That’s when you realise it’s easier to say it in their language than hoping they will understand.”
Petr Cech holds the all time Premier League’s clean sheet, 170. Having recorded 9 clean sheets in the first half, the 33-year-old will be hoping to better the record, and by extension, the League title this season.
