Wenger Opens Up On Why He Signed Gabriel Paulista.

It is untypical of Arsene Wenger to sign players in the January transfer window. Whenever you see the club do business during that period, it is probably because Wenger is arm-twisted by the sudden unavailability of a key player due to a long term injury.

The frenchman has always advocated for the January transfer window to be scrapped, claimed that it gives the big – usually Sugar Daddy- clubs the undue advantage to strategize after a somewhat blip in their campaign.

He is not a genuis in this particular transfer window. An example is the loan move of Kim Källström from Spartak Moscow. Of which, the player barely featured in the team due to a back injury.

In this season’s transfer window, the manager purchased Gabriel Paulista and has now revealed the reason why he was bought.

Speaking to Arsenal Player, Arsene said, “We needed another centre-back because we have lost Debuchy. Monreal can play centre back and we are a bit short there if something happens, especially with the Achilles [problem] of Koscielny since the start of the season.

“We needed some cover, or we would not be responsible. [Gabriel] can
play right back and left back, and that is of course a good quality as
well.”

Let’s hope Gabriel cuts the mustard in the Arsenal team
